I'm not Catholic so I don't actually give anything up, but I've been thinking about what I would be WILLING to give up.
And in between thoughts the following things were ELIMINATED from that list:
Dude
Oatmeal
Coffee
Fat Free French Vanilla Creamer
Tea
Honey
Coke Zero
Water
Chocolate
Pizza
Barq's Root Beer
Wine
Vodka
DeSarrono (however it's spelled/pronounce)
Alcohol
Exercise (only because I have a race sometime during Lent)
Greek Yogurt
Blogging
My BlackBerry
Chicken (well, meat in general)
Brown Rice
Hot Showers
So far, here's the list of what I am willing to give up for Lent:
Commuting
Shoveling Snow
Watching Professional sports on TV
Brussel Sprouts
Training on my trainer (Penny has been set up on it since December and I've been on it less then 2 hours - not in a row)
So there you have it folks - apparently I'm giving up brussel sprouts for however long Lent lasts.

Your process of elimination is stellar. Resist temptation, stay strong and say NO to brussel sprouts. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
Your give up /not give up list makes sense to me! Just found your blog..I love it! where did you find the Tri pictures?
Look forward to reading more of your adventures. Oh..sorry about the snow. Mother nature was supposed to deliver it up here to Maine where we want and Need it! Find some XC skis..it's a blast.
Love it! It is key to set realistic expectations.
So, it's been quite a while since I could claim being Catholic, so I'm certainly not an expert, but the idea of lent is to give up something that would be a sacrifice, not something that you should rid your life of anyway. (Mike is with you on the whole brissel sprouts thing thouugh!) If it was that easy, Catholics would celebrate lent year round! :)
Ahh..I think that, for Lent, you are suppose to give up something you LIKE! Nice try though. :)
I love the name Dude by the way. Did you give him that name? I call that to my friends often.
@ Ange - If you're talking about the pics in my header, most of them (except the swim) were taken by Dude. I saw in your blog that you did Mooseman. He may have pics of you on his site. http: // donyusko . smugmug . com
@Melissa Dude got his name because a friend of mine convinced me his name was something different then what I thought the week before our first date (I was right by the way). So for that whole week I was going on a date with "some Dude" and the name stuck.
